Each year, all across Georgia, individuals, organizations, businesses, elected officials, and communities are doing good things for our trees. They are planting trees, preserving trees, and promoting the benefits of trees, and we need your help in identifying them and thanking them for their good work!
The Georgia Urban Forest Council is calling for nominations for its 2012 Excellence in Urban Forestry Awards. One Grand Award is given to each of the following categories: Marketing, Streetscape Revitalization, Greenspace Plan, New Development, New Initiative, Business, Media, Civic Organization, Community, Elected/Appointed Official, Education, Individual Achievement, Student, and Urban Arboriculture. Award winners will receive a limited edition framed print of a majestic Georgia tree commissioned solely for the contest. All winners will be featured on our website. Recipients of this year’s Georgia Urban Forestry Awards will be recognized at GUFC’s 2012 Annual Conference Awards Luncheon on October 25, 2012 at the Del’avant Center in LaGrange, Georgia.
